Standardized Test Preparation

I offer individualized Test Preparation Programs for the SAT and ACT.

My programs are skill based. That means that I focus on teaching the fundamental skills and knowledge areas that are being tested. Although I will teach you the art of being a great test taker, my basic approach is to help you develop strong problem solving skills and applied knowledge skills.

Preparation and advanced planing is essential for success on standardized tests. This is especially true for college admission tests like the SAT.

I develop and customize a learning program based upon your needs, goals and motivation.

In order to maximize your test scores it is critical to begin the test preparation process as early as possible.

About the Tutor:

My first experience as a tutor was in 1988 as a Rotary International Exchange Student to India. I tutored elementary school children in English. I was seventeen years old at the time. I later tutored math and science courses in college at Syracuse University. In graduate school I developed expertise in test development and worked as an educational researcher for several prominent organizations in Washington, D.C.

My journey as a tutor began over 20 years ago and today I deliver comprehensive educational services based upon a life-time of learning experience that has brought me around the world.

I meet with all of my students at their school, home, office or now at my new tutoring center in Springfield, Virginia.

My specialty is in Mathematics, Science, Reading and Writing.  However, I provide my students with a broad educational foundation that goes beyond the traditional school curriculum. I encourage my students to develop independent learning and critical thinking skills.

I develop an individualized learning plan and goals with each of my students. Together we evaluate our progress and adjust our plan to optimize the students learning.

A key aspect of successful tutoring involves developing excellent
communication skills. I help each of my students communicate more effectively by using a technique that integrates reading, writing and speaking clearly. Harmonizing these three elements (reading, writing & speaking) yields remarkable gains in the students ability to think clearly and consequently learn more effectively.

I have a diverse educational background and make the learning process fun, exciting, rewarding and creative!
